Emergency Plumbing Services
Emergency Plumbing, Same-Day Visits
Active leaks, no water, sewer backups, and gas concerns can’t wait for next week. We take emergency calls on weekday evenings and weekends, and same-day visits are often available at the emergency rate.

When it can’t wait
Most plumbing work is best scheduled ahead — it lets us plan the job properly, and appointments booked in advance get 10% off. But some problems need attention the same day. When water is coming through the ceiling, the house has no water, sewage is backing up into the basement, or the water heater has failed and is leaking, you need a plumber who picks up the phone and can actually come out.
When you call either of our numbers, you talk directly to our team — no answering service, no dispatcher. We'll ask a few quick questions, tell you honestly how soon we can be there, and walk you through anything you can safely do in the meantime to limit the damage.
Our hours for emergency calls
We want to be clear about this: I.D. ProPlumbing is not a 24/7 service. We work weekday evenings and weekends, and that's when we take emergency calls. During those hours, same-day visits are often available for urgent problems, and they're billed at a higher emergency rate than scheduled appointments.
If you reach us outside those hours, leave a message or send a text or request — we'll get back to you as soon as we're available. For a gas smell, don't wait for a callback: leave the building and call 911 or your gas utility from outside.
What Counts as an Emergency
Problems we treat as urgent.
- Active leaks — burst pipes, water through a ceiling or wall
- No water to the house
- Sewer or drain backups into the basement
- A leaking or failed water heater
- Gas concerns — after your gas utility has made it safe
- A toilet or fixture overflowing that won’t stop
What to do while you wait
These steps are about safety and limiting damage — leave the repair to us:
- For a leak or burst pipe: shut off the main water valve, usually near where the water line enters the house in the basement or utility area. If a single fixture is leaking, its own shut-off valve may be enough.
- For water near electrical outlets, panels, or appliances: stay out of the water and, if you can do so safely, shut off power to the affected area.
- For a sewer backup: stop running water, flushing toilets, and using the washer or dishwasher until the line is cleared.
- For a leaking water heater: turn off the water supply to the heater and the gas or power to the unit.
- For a gas smell: leave the building, don't operate switches, and call 911 or your gas utility from outside.

How emergency pricing works
Emergency, same-day visits are billed at a higher rate than scheduled appointments. We'll tell you what to expect before we start the work, and if the situation can safely wait for a regular appointment, we'll say so — scheduled work booked in advance gets 10% off. Our full service area includes 17 communities across Chicago's North and Northwest suburbs, listed below.
